The ruling Kuomintang (KMT) revoked Legislative Yuan Speaker Wang Jin-pyng’s party membership on Sept. 11 over his alleged meddling in a legal case.

 執政的國民黨在九月十一號撤銷立法院長王金平的黨籍，理由是他涉嫌關說法律案件。

The decision by the KMT’s Evaluation and Discipline Committee to strip Wang of his party membership would mandate his departure from the Legislative Yuan.

 國民黨考紀會決定撤銷王金平黨籍的決定，將迫使王金平失去立委資格。

Wang allegedly intervened in a breach of trust case against Ker Chien-ming, the chief party whip of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the Legislature. Ker was found guilty by two lower courts but not guilty by the High Court. Wang reportedly urged the prosecutor to refrain from appealing the High Court ruling.

 王金平涉嫌干預一件立院民進黨團大黨鞭柯建銘的背信案。柯建銘在兩級低層法院都被判有罪，但在高院被判無罪。王金平涉嫌力勸檢察官不要就高院判決繼續上訴。

The Special Investigation Division (SID) obtained information of Wang’s conversations with the prosecutor through wiretaps. Wang accused the SID of illegal information-gathering in a press conference not long before he lost his KMT membership.

 特偵組透過監聽取得王金平與檢察官的對話。王金平在遭撤銷黨籍前不久的記者會中，指控特偵組非法取得資訊。

President Ma Ying-jeou said in a news conference that Wang was no longer suitable for his post since he had crossed the line by intervening in a legal case. “I was deeply disappointed that Wang failed to apologize for his involvement in the influence peddling case,” Ma said. “Since Wang has decided not to step down voluntarily, it is the KMT’s responsibility to make clear its stance.”

 馬英九總統在一個記者會中表示，王金平已經不再適合立院龍頭職位，因為他越權干預司法案件。馬總統說：「我非常失望王院長沒有為涉嫌關說而道歉。由於王院長已經決定不會自動下台，國民黨有責任表明立場。」

“This is the moment of truth. I believe all party members will choose to stand on the right side of history and work together to defend the integrity of our party,” Ma said.

馬總統說：「這是重要的時刻。我相信所有黨員都會選擇站在歷史的正確這一邊，共同努力護衛黨的聲譽。」
